BiFiles Forum Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the BiFiles Forum at https://www.bifiles.com/forum/.

By creating an account, posting a reply, or otherwise using member features, you agree to these Terms, the BiFiles Forum Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines, and any additional rules clearly displayed within the Forum.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you may continue reading publicly available Forum content where permitted, but you must not create an account or use member participation features.

1. Who operates the BiFiles Forum?

References in these Terms to “BiFiles,” “the Forum,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to the operator of the BiFiles Forum.

2. Who may use the Forum?

The BiFiles Forum is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

By creating an account, you confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 years old;
  • you are legally able to agree to these Terms;
  • the information you provide during registration is accurate;
  • you will use the Forum in accordance with applicable law and these Terms;
  • you are not creating an account on behalf of someone else without permission.

BiFiles may refuse, restrict, or remove an account when it reasonably believes that a person does not meet the age requirement or another eligibility requirement.

3. Purpose and structure of the Forum

The BiFiles Forum is a publicly readable, editor-managed discussion space focused on bisexual identity, questioning, coming out, privacy, relationships, wellbeing, boundaries, community, culture, and related lived experiences.

BiFiles creates and maintains the main discussion topics. Registered members may respond to existing topics but cannot normally create new main topics themselves.

This structure aims to:

  • keep discussions organised and easy to find;
  • reduce duplicate, misleading, promotional, or low-value topics;
  • provide focused spaces for recurring questions;
  • allow members to contribute lived experiences without needing to design or manage a discussion themselves.

BiFiles may create, rename, move, combine, divide, close, reopen, archive, or remove topics when doing so supports clarity, safety, accuracy, moderation, or the purpose of the Forum.

4. Reading and participating

Visitors can read most Forum discussions without an account. Registration is required to post replies, edit permitted account information, subscribe to discussions, report content, or use other member features.

Participation is voluntary. You do not need to introduce yourself, disclose your sexuality, reveal relationship details, or share personal experiences to maintain an account.

Reading quietly is also a valid way to use the Forum. BiFiles does not require members to post regularly or disclose personal information in order to belong.

Share only what feels reasonably safe. Do not treat the Forum as a private diary, confidential support channel, or secure storage service.

5. Account registration and security

You must provide a valid email address and complete the required email-confirmation or password-setting process.

You are responsible for:

  • keeping your password secure;
  • using an email address you control;
  • not sharing access to your account;
  • not allowing another person to post under your identity;
  • informing BiFiles if you believe someone has compromised your account.

You may not create multiple accounts to avoid moderation, manipulate conversations, impersonate several members, or create artificial activity.

Usernames, display names, profile images, and profile information must not impersonate another person or organisation, mislead members about your authority, or contain abusive, explicit, discriminatory, deceptive, or promotional material.

6. Public nature of Forum contributions

The BiFiles Forum is publicly readable. Visitors without an account may see replies, usernames, display names, avatars, posting dates, and publicly visible profile information.

Search engines and third parties may index, cache, quote, link to, archive, copy, or capture public Forum content in screenshots outside BiFiles’ control.

Because the Forum discusses bisexual identity, relationships, coming out, health, community, and related experiences, information you voluntarily publish may reveal sensitive or special-category personal information.

Do not post:

  • your full legal name unless you deliberately want it to become public;
  • home addresses or precise real-time locations;
  • private phone numbers or email addresses;
  • passwords, account credentials, or financial information;
  • workplace details that could identify you unnecessarily;
  • another person’s private or identifying information;
  • information that could out someone without their consent.

7. Community conduct

You must participate respectfully and in good faith.

You may disagree with another member’s interpretation, relationship choices, label, or experience. However, you may not use disagreement as a reason to harass, humiliate, intimidate, stereotype, or invalidate them.

Members must not:

  • question whether another member is “bisexual enough” or demand personal proof;
  • use biphobic, homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory abuse;
  • encourage outing, coercion, harassment, violence, or retaliation;
  • pressure someone to come out, explore, date, meet, disclose, or continue contact;
  • treat bisexuality as automatic consent, availability, non-monogamy, or interest in particular sexual activity;
  • repeatedly contact or pursue someone after they have set a boundary;
  • publish another person’s messages, photographs, identity, or personal details without permission;
  • organise attacks, brigading, mass reporting, or harassment against people or other communities;
  • deliberately derail discussions or repeatedly post the same argument across multiple topics;
  • use the Forum primarily to provoke, recruit, manipulate, deceive, or exploit members.

8. Dating, solicitation, and unwanted contact

The main BiFiles Forum is not a personal-advertising, hookup, or partner-recruitment service.

Do not use Forum discussions to:

  • seek dates, hookups, or additional partners;
  • recruit bisexual people for couples or group arrangements;
  • post personal advertisements or repeated invitations to private contact;
  • request sexual photographs or explicit personal details;
  • move members into private communication through pressure or deception;
  • promote commercial dating, adult, or escort services.

Friendly interaction does not imply romantic or sexual interest. Members must respect boundaries and must not interpret bisexuality as an invitation.

9. Sexual and sensitive content

The Forum may contain mature discussions about relationships, attraction, consent, boundaries, sexual health, discrimination, grief, or mental wellbeing.

Discuss these subjects in a non-graphic, relevant, and respectful manner. The Forum does not permit pornography, graphic sexual content, sexualised personal advertisements, or explicit descriptions posted mainly for arousal or shock.

BiFiles prohibits sexual content involving minors, sexual exploitation or abuse material, non-consensual intimate content, gratuitous depictions or descriptions of sexual violence, and other illegal sexual content. BiFiles may remove or restrict such material and, where required, report it to the relevant authorities.

This does not prevent relevant, non-graphic discussion of personal history, coming out, safety, abuse recovery, or experiences that occurred when someone was younger, provided the discussion does not sexualise minors or include prohibited material.

10. Safety, self-harm, and emergencies

BiFiles is not an emergency service, crisis service, healthcare provider, counselling service, or substitute for qualified professional support.

If you believe that you or another person faces immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service or qualified crisis service.

Members must not encourage self-harm, suicide, violence, abuse, coercive control, unsafe sexual behaviour, or the avoidance of necessary professional care.

BiFiles may restrict or remove content and contact appropriate services or authorities when applicable law requires it or when BiFiles reasonably believes that a serious and immediate threat to life or safety exists.

11. Medical, mental-health, legal, and other professional information

Forum contributions reflect personal experiences and opinions. They may not be accurate, complete, professional, or appropriate for your individual circumstances.

Do not rely solely on Forum replies when making medical, mental-health, legal, financial, safety, or other high-impact decisions.

Members must not falsely claim professional qualifications, diagnose other members, prescribe treatment, guarantee outcomes, or pressure someone to ignore qualified professional advice.

12. Spam, advertising, and prohibited promotion

You may not use the Forum for spam, unsolicited advertising, affiliate promotion, search-engine manipulation, repetitive link posting, lead generation, recruitment schemes, or deceptive commercial activity.

BiFiles may allow relevant links when they genuinely support a discussion and do not primarily serve a promotional purpose. BiFiles may remove links, promotional language, referral codes, tracking links, or repeated references to the same service.

BiFiles prohibits automated posting, scraping that disrupts the service, artificial account creation, and attempts to manipulate views, reactions, subscriptions, rankings, or engagement.

13. Illegal and harmful content

You must not post, link to, request, promote, or facilitate content or activity that violates applicable law.

This includes, where applicable:

  • credible threats or incitement to violence;
  • sexual exploitation or abuse material;
  • non-consensual intimate images;
  • stalking, doxxing, or unlawful disclosure of personal data;
  • fraud, impersonation, or account theft;
  • copyright or trademark infringement;
  • illegal hate speech;
  • instructions, transactions, or offers involving unlawful products or services.

Report potentially illegal content through the available Forum reporting feature or contact support@bifiles.com.

14. Your content and ownership

You retain ownership of original content that you submit to the Forum.

By publishing content, you give BiFiles a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, format, technically process, moderate, and make that content available as part of operating and preserving the Forum.

This licence allows BiFiles to display your reply, include it in the relevant discussion, maintain backups, make necessary formatting or accessibility changes, support Forum search and organisation, and retain an anonymised version when lawful and reasonably necessary to preserve the continuity of a discussion.

This licence does not transfer ownership of your contribution to BiFiles or give BiFiles unlimited permission to commercially republish your personal story outside its original context.

15. Use of community feedback in BiFiles content

Forum discussions may reveal recurring questions, concerns, misunderstandings, lived-experience patterns, or gaps in existing BiFiles information.

BiFiles may use general and anonymised themes from community discussions to improve Forum topics, FAQs, articles, safety information, guides, moderation practices, and other educational or editorial content.

BiFiles may use AI-assisted tools to help organise, compare, summarise, or identify recurring themes and content gaps. Where this involves personal data, BiFiles processes that information in accordance with the BiFiles Forum Privacy Policy.

AI-assisted tools do not become community members and do not replace the lived experiences or opinions contributed by Forum members.

BiFiles will not normally identify a member or reproduce a distinctive personal story, screenshot, private communication, or substantial direct quotation outside the original Forum discussion without additional consideration and, where appropriate, permission.

BiFiles will not present one member’s personal experience as representative of every bisexual person.

16. Intellectual property belonging to BiFiles

Applicable intellectual-property laws protect the BiFiles name, branding, graphics, website design, editorial text, topic introductions, original guides, and other BiFiles-created material.

You may link to publicly available Forum pages and quote short extracts for legitimate discussion, review, criticism, or reference where applicable law permits it and where you provide appropriate context.

You may not copy, republish, sell, rebrand, systematically reproduce, or create a competing database from BiFiles content without permission, except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Automated access, crawling, or scraping must not interfere with the Forum, bypass technical restrictions, compromise privacy or security, or otherwise violate applicable law or these Terms.

17. Moderation and automated tools

BiFiles may moderate content and accounts to enforce these Terms and the Community Guidelines, protect members, comply with applicable law, maintain topic focus, and preserve the usefulness and safety of the Forum.

Moderation actions may include:

  • asking a member to change their behaviour;
  • editing formatting, removing identifying information, or adding a moderation note;
  • moving a reply to a more relevant discussion;
  • restricting links or account features;
  • hiding, unapproving, or removing content;
  • temporarily limiting or suspending an account;
  • permanently banning an account;
  • preserving relevant records for safety, legal, or dispute-handling purposes.

BiFiles may use automated or AI-assisted tools to support spam detection, flood control, link checking, abuse detection, safety review, moderation triage, and the organisation or review of Forum content.

Automated tools may identify, flag, score, filter, delay, or temporarily restrict suspicious activity. Automated indicators do not by themselves prove that content or an account violates these Terms.

Important moderation decisions are subject to human direction and review where appropriate. AI-assisted tools do not independently make final decisions about permanent account bans, privacy-rights requests, legal requests, or similarly significant decisions affecting members.

Moderators may consider context, severity, repetition, intent, risk, previous behaviour, and the effect on other participants. BiFiles does not need to impose identical consequences when circumstances differ materially.

18. Notice of moderation decisions and review requests

Where applicable law requires BiFiles to provide a statement of reasons for restricting content, Forum access, or an account, BiFiles will provide a clear and specific explanation to the affected member where the necessary electronic contact information is available.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, an explanation may include:

  • the content, account feature, or access affected by the decision;
  • the nature and, where relevant, duration of the restriction;
  • the main facts and circumstances relied upon;
  • whether the decision followed a member report, an illegal-content notice, or BiFiles’ own review;
  • whether automated or AI-assisted tools materially contributed to detecting or assessing the content;
  • the relevant provision of these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law;
  • available options for requesting review or seeking other redress where applicable.

BiFiles may limit information where applicable law permits or requires this, including when additional detail could expose a reporter, repeat harmful material, reveal security systems, interfere with an investigation, violate another person’s rights, or place someone at risk.

If you believe that BiFiles made a mistaken moderation decision concerning your content or account, request a review by emailing support@bifiles.com.

Your request should include:

  • your Forum username;
  • the URL or title of the relevant discussion;
  • the decision you want reviewed;
  • a brief explanation of why you believe BiFiles should reconsider the decision.

Do not create additional accounts to avoid a restriction while a review remains pending.

19. Reporting content and notifying BiFiles about illegal content

Use the Forum reporting function for replies that may violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines.

You may also notify BiFiles electronically about content that you believe is illegal by contacting support@bifiles.com.

To help BiFiles assess a notice about potentially illegal content, provide enough information to identify and understand the issue. Where relevant, this may include:

  • a clear explanation of why you believe the content is illegal;
  • the exact URL or another clear indication of where the content appears;
  • any additional information reasonably needed to identify the content;
  • your name and email address where required or appropriate under applicable law;
  • a good-faith confirmation that the information you provide is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.

Applicable law may allow notices concerning certain forms of sexual abuse or exploitation to be submitted without the notifier providing identifying information.

BiFiles will assess sufficiently precise notices in a timely, diligent, objective, and non-arbitrary manner. BiFiles may ask for additional information when a notice does not provide enough information to identify or assess the relevant content.

For urgent privacy, safety, illegal-content, or account concerns, contact support@bifiles.com.

Submit reports honestly. Repeated false reports, retaliatory reports, or attempts to use moderation tools to silence respectful disagreement may lead to account restrictions.

Submitting a report does not guarantee the outcome requested. BiFiles will assess the report using the available information, these Terms, the Community Guidelines, applicable law, and the rights and safety of those involved.

20. Account suspension and termination

You may stop using the Forum at any time and may use available account-deletion tools or contact BiFiles for assistance.

BiFiles may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account when reasonably necessary because of:

  • serious or repeated violations of these Terms or the Community Guidelines;
  • harassment, threats, outing, or privacy violations;
  • spam, fraud, impersonation, or account manipulation;
  • attempts to bypass previous restrictions;
  • legal requirements;
  • credible risks to members, the Forum, or its technical security.

BiFiles may act without prior warning in urgent cases or where applicable law allows or requires immediate action. In less urgent cases, BiFiles may issue a warning or temporary restriction first when appropriate.

21. Account deletion and existing replies

Deleting an account does not necessarily delete every public reply previously posted.

BiFiles may remove or anonymise profile details while keeping replies under an anonymous or removed-user identity when retaining them is lawful and reasonably preserves the structure, meaning, and contributions of other participants in a discussion.

You may separately request a review or removal of specific content when it creates a privacy or safety concern or where you believe applicable law gives you a right to deletion or restriction. BiFiles considers each request individually and applies relevant legal rights and obligations.

22. Third-party links and services

The Forum may contain links to websites, applications, organisations, products, or services operated by third parties.

A link does not necessarily mean that BiFiles endorses, verifies, controls, or guarantees the third party. External services apply their own terms, privacy practices, safety standards, and content policies.

You are responsible for assessing whether an external service is appropriate and safe before providing information, creating an account, making a purchase, or meeting another person.

23. Availability and changes to the Forum

BiFiles aims to keep the Forum available, secure, and useful but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

BiFiles may change, suspend, restrict, or discontinue the Forum or individual features for maintenance, security, legal compliance, technical limitations, resource constraints, or editorial reasons.

BiFiles may also change the structure of categories, topics, profiles, notifications, subscriptions, and participation features as the community develops.

24. No guarantee of replies or outcomes

BiFiles does not guarantee that a particular discussion will receive replies, that a member will receive a personal response, or that community advice will produce a particular outcome.

Replies represent the views and experiences of individual contributors. Publication does not mean that BiFiles agrees with, endorses, or has independently verified every statement.

The Forum is intentionally designed to prioritise useful and genuine discussion rather than artificial activity or guaranteed engagement.

25. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where applicable law does not allow such an exclusion or limitation, including liability that mandatory consumer-protection law does not permit BiFiles to exclude.

To the extent permitted by law, BiFiles is not responsible for:

  • decisions made solely on the basis of member contributions;
  • the accuracy or completeness of content submitted by members;
  • conduct occurring outside the Forum;
  • external websites or services;
  • third-party caching, archiving, screenshots, quotations, or republication of public replies;
  • loss caused by a member failing to protect their login details;
  • temporary outages or changes reasonably required for security or maintenance.

BiFiles remains responsible for its own conduct to the extent required by applicable law.

26. Consumer rights

These Terms do not remove or limit any mandatory consumer, statutory, or other legal rights that apply to you.

The core Forum service is currently available without a membership fee. If BiFiles later offers a paid product or service, additional terms and legally required pre-contract information may apply to that purchase.

27. Governing law and disputes

German law governs these Terms. This choice does not deprive consumers of mandatory legal protections that apply under the law of their country of habitual residence.

Before starting formal proceedings, you are encouraged to contact support@bifiles.com so BiFiles can review the issue and, where possible, resolve it directly.

A court or dispute-resolution body with jurisdiction under applicable law will handle any dispute. Nothing in these Terms requires a consumer to give up a legally protected right to bring a claim before a competent court or use another legally available remedy.

28. Changes to these Terms

BiFiles may update these Terms when the Forum, its features, moderation practices, service providers, or legal obligations change.

BiFiles will publish the latest version on this page and update the revision date.

When a change is significant or materially affects registered members, BiFiles will provide appropriate additional notice where required by applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, notice may be provided through the Forum, an account notice, or email.

When revised Terms take effect, they will apply to continued use of member features from that point, subject to any additional consent or notice required by applicable law.

29. Severability

If a court or competent authority finds any part of these Terms invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
