Connecting with bisexual community can feel difficult when you are not publicly out or do not want your identity linked to your everyday life.
You may want recognition, conversation, and support while worrying that relatives, colleagues, neighbours, or people from your local community could discover your participation. Even joining an online group, attending an event, or following bisexual content may feel more visible than you are comfortable with.
Privacy does not mean you are ashamed or less committed to community. Some people participate under a nickname, read without posting, choose spaces outside their local area, or share only the parts of their experience that cannot identify them. Others prefer one trusted friendship over joining a larger group.
A community can make private participation easier by allowing quiet reading, limiting pressure to introduce yourself, discouraging unwanted private contact, and clearly explaining what information is publicly visible.
How have you connected with bisexual community while protecting your privacy—and what features or boundaries helped you feel safe enough to participate?
Please avoid sharing identifying details or pressuring anyone to become more publicly visible.
