Two people can both identify as bisexual while experiencing attraction, relationships, visibility, and community in very different ways.
One person may recognise their bisexuality early, while another understands it much later. Someone may feel attraction fairly evenly across genders, while another experiences strong differences in frequency, intensity, or emotional connection. Some people are openly bisexual and community-focused; others are private and rarely think about their orientation in daily life.
Hearing experiences unlike your own can sometimes create confusion, especially when they challenge the version of bisexuality you first understood. But they can also make the identity feel broader and reduce the pressure to find one “correct” bisexual experience.
Understanding another perspective does not require pretending that every experience matches yours. It can simply mean recognising that difference does not make either person less valid.
Has another bisexual person’s experience ever changed, challenged, or expanded the way you understood bisexuality? What stayed with you?
Please discuss differences with curiosity and avoid treating your own pattern of attraction, relationships, or visibility as the standard for everyone.
