How Do You Stop Comparing Your Bisexuality to Other People’s?

Seeing other bisexual people’s stories can be reassuring, but it can also create new reasons to doubt yourself.

Someone else may appear more certain, more experienced, more visible, or more connected to LGBTQ+ community. Their attraction may seem easier to recognise, their coming-out story more positive, or their identity more central to their life. It can then feel as though your own bisexuality should look similar.

Comparison often leaves out important context. People share different parts of their lives, have different levels of safety, and experience attraction in different ways. Another person’s confidence, dating history, relationship, or visibility is not a measurement your identity must meet.

Community can be most helpful when other experiences expand what seems possible rather than becoming standards you feel required to follow.

Have you ever compared your bisexuality with someone else’s experience, and what helped you return to what felt true for you?

Please avoid deciding that one member appears “more bisexual” than another. Different experiences can be equally genuine without looking alike.
