Why Can It Be Hard to Turn Bisexual Community Into Real Friendship?

Finding people who share bisexual experiences can create recognition, but recognition does not always develop into friendship.

Online conversations may remain brief or focused on one topic. Offline groups may meet irregularly, centre on dating or nightlife, or make it difficult for newer members to move beyond introductions. Some people also hesitate to become closer because they value privacy, fear being misunderstood, or are unsure whether friendliness will be mistaken for romantic interest.

Friendship usually needs repeated contact, mutual effort, and room to talk about more than sexuality. A bisexual community may open the door, but stronger connections often grow through shared interests, ordinary conversation, practical support, and seeing the same people over time.

Not everyone joins a community looking for close friendship, and no member should feel pressured to move into private contact. Still, it can feel lonely when a space offers recognition without creating any natural path toward lasting connection.

Have you found it difficult to turn bisexual community contact into genuine friendship—and what helped, or would have helped, that connection grow naturally?

Please do not use this discussion to request private contact. Focus on community structure, trust, shared activities, and the conditions that support friendship safely.
