Bisexual characters and public stories have become more visible, but some bisexual lives still seem much easier to find than others.
Representation may focus on young people, dating, sexual experimentation, or dramatic relationship conflict. It can be harder to find bisexual people who are older, monogamous, married, parenting, private about their identity, disabled, from different cultural backgrounds, or simply living ordinary lives where bisexuality is meaningful without driving every storyline.
Visibility also means more than showing attraction to multiple genders. It can matter whether bisexuality is named clearly, whether the character has community, and whether their identity remains valid regardless of their current partner.
No single character or story can represent everyone. Still, repeated gaps can affect who recognises themselves and who continues to feel that bisexuality is expected to look a certain way.
