What Do You Wish You Had Known When You First Started Questioning?

When people first begin questioning their sexuality, they often try to find certainty before they have enough language, experience, or distance to understand what they are feeling.

You may have worried that attraction had to be perfectly equal, that a label could never change, or that you needed dating experience before you were allowed to call yourself bisexual. Others may have felt pressure to come out, explore, or explain themselves before they were ready.

Looking back does not mean judging the person you were then. Most people were working with the information, safety, and examples available to them at the time. Something that feels obvious now may have been almost impossible to recognise earlier.

The most useful insight may also be something simple: uncertainty is allowed, attraction can be complicated, and understanding yourself does not need to happen on anyone else’s schedule.

What do you wish someone had told you when you first started questioning your sexuality—and what might have made that period less confusing or lonely?

Please speak from your own experience rather than presenting one path or label as the answer for everyone.
